As a PKM geek, I always want to improve my workflow and my PKM.
The digital part of my brain is as important as the physical one.
Here, I share 4 apps that help them better work together.
Why I Love the Digital Part of My Brain
It’s my ally, the one that gives me a lot of positive stuff.
It makes me smarter. It makes my life easier.
It gives me joy, relaxation, and peace of mind.
My 30-year Digital Journey
I began taking care of the digital part of my brain a long time ago.
I made it grow. Today, it’s as important as the physical one.
I have no second brain. I just have one with two parts.
Both essential.
2 Historical Moments in My Digital Journey
- Moment 1: when I became 100% paperless, more than a decade ago.
- Moment 2: it’s coming right now. It’s called Artificial Intelligence.
Why Artificial Intelligence Is “The Next Step”
The more I read about AI, the more I’m convinced a huge step forward is coming pretty soon.
It’ll be another big jump in my (your) PKM, aka my (your) life.
I’m quite excited!
2 years ago, I started paying attention to AI, related to my PKM.
I did it because one of my “obsessions” has always been defining exactly the same workflows in both parts of my brain.
That’s something I’ve already achieved.
Synergies always have brought success to my life at all levels.
How Artificial Intelligence Is Helping Me Today
AI is helping me a lot in processes I consider essential in my life:
- How I capture information.
- How I store it.
- How I make the searching process.
- How I recall the information.
- How the system suggests data to me I couldn’t have thought about.
What My “Next Step” Is
My next step is pushing hard the digital part of my brain to give me even more, easier, and with less friction.
Thanks to fantastic apps, it’s becoming true day by day.
Here, I share 4 apps you may find interesting to improve your life.
App 1: Mem.ai
I’ve followed Mem since they raised $5.6 million in April 2021.
I’ve tested it a lot, and each day’s becoming better.
I finally got hooked on it when I heard one of its co-founders saying something I’ve been pursuing for many years: a world without tags.
I have to thank Srinivas Rao for making such an interesting interview to one of Mem’s co-founders, Dennis Xu.
I believe not having to think about tagging when capturing or storing your information equals freedom. In fact, it’s a dream come true. Now, it’s the system that thinks for you.
These guys are moving pretty straightforwardly to achieve this goal. 2022 will be a significant year for them.
They’ll launch pretty soon Mem X, a paid version (at last!) that’ll offer what I’ve been aiming to for such a long time.
I think their way is “the way”.
App 2: Searchable.ai
Searching files all over your PKM shouldn’t be a pain in the ass.
No matter if you have several GDrive accounts or even local files on your hard drive or any other place, your PKM should let you search, intuitively, all over the place.
These guys are making it easier and possible.
I recommend you to read this article, where they explain how they raised $4 million in 2020 and their goals.
“We believe that there’ll be a whole new category of search, search companies and search products that are more conversational. Being able to interact with your information more naturally, more and more conversationally, that’s where we think the market is going.”
I’m pretty sure this resonates with you.
App 3: Charli.ai
Charli’s goal is to give clear results from chaos.
It uses AI to understand, summarize and organize content.
It merges all your sources of information to make everything visible in one place.
It uses AI to “autotag”.
Did I say before I want a world without tags?
App 4: BundleIQ
BundleIQ is a note-taking app that automatically connects your thoughts to relevant information so you can focus on working instead of searching.
Did I say before I don’t want to waste my time searching?
It’s amazing because it offers content intelligently as you type.
Takeaways
- If you’re a knowledge worker, pay attention to the AI domain.
- It’ll drive you to places you’ve been aiming to all your life.
- It’ll allow you to better combine the physical part of your brain with the digital one.
- That’s how you’ll get the best out of your life.
