We’re living in a “new era” where plain text files are invading us.
Why is it?
Here I share 5 reasons.
Reason 1
It’s always easier to adapt the digital part of your brain to the physical one than vice versa.
The physical part of your brain is the one that uses intuition, “common sense”.
If the digital part of your brain works the same way, it’s easier to find a meeting point.
Reason 2
It’s easier just to write as you think than filling fields.
Filling fields is something we used when there were no other options.
We could only adapt our workflows to tools that were what they were.
Reason 3
Because of the previous reason, you don’t hurt your flow because you don’t need to leave your keyboard.
Those wasted milliseconds to use your mouse are the only ones you need to stop your flow and forget everything you had in mind.
Reason 4
Plain text files are easily stored locally.
We love local because we’re looking for intimacy, privacy, security, assets we’ve partially lost when moving things “to the cloud”.
Reason 5
Plain text files are long-term guaranteed.
Can you think of a future app or an OS that doesn’t allow you to import/open plain text files?

- The way we interact with machines is changing day by day.
- Sometimes we just need simplicity in our “complex lives”.
- No AI. No databases. Just going back to the origins.
- Pen and paper adapted to today’s technology: plain text files.
