You should use your PKM as your best friend.
That’s the life-changing approach I highly recommend.
A friend is useful because he sees the world from a different perspective than you do.
That’s what you have to achieve talking about your PKM.
Your PKM should become your best friend by giving you information from different perspectives based on data.
The more perspectives you have:
- The higher the probability you’ll make progress towards your goals.
- The better you’ll be, talking about your decision-making process.
Here, I share 2 scenarios where you can use perspectives:
Planning your day.
While planning my day, I check items from these 2 perspectives:
- Priority. Which items are marked as “Critical Priority”?
- Status. Which items are still pending?
This process gives me crystal-clear answers:
- Items I should take action on immediately.
- Items I should change their priority.
- Items I’m not paying attention to, and I should.
During your reviews.
During my reviews, I check items from these 3 perspectives:
- Pillars.
- Topics.
- Roles.
Pillars are consolidated areas in my life. Things I have to pay attention to.
Topics are consolidated areas in my life. They’re like the highways of my life in a certain period.
Roles are the different “hats” I wear in my life.
Based on perspectives, I ask myself direct questions:
- Priority. Are my priorities right?
- Status. What are the critical items that are still pending?
- Pillars. Are the key elements in my life under control?
- Topics. Am I dedicating time to the things that matter to me the most?
- Roles. Am I paying attention to the ones I love?
These types of questions lead me to:
- Think.
- Analyze.
- Make decisions.
- Take action.
Takeaways
When you see your own life from different angles, you get a whole picture of it.
That’s what your PKM brings to you on a silver plate.
You can chat with your PKM daily:
- It’ll improve your decision-making process.
- You’ll feel better because you know you’re doing the right things at any moment.
